What Happens After You Place a Crochiah Order

Most things you order online are already made. They sit in a warehouse somewhere, waiting to be matched to a name and address. Within 24 hours, they are moving.

Crochiah works differently. When you place an order, nothing exists yet.

Day 0: The Order Arrives

The moment your payment is confirmed, the order reaches our team in Narsapuram. The artisan assigned to your piece is selected based on the design — certain patterns require specific expertise built over years of practice. A delicate motif top goes to someone whose tension work is exceptionally fine. A structured bag goes to someone whose finishing is particularly clean.

Your order triggers the beginning of something that did not exist an hour ago.

Days 1–3: The Making

Crochet cannot be rushed without showing it. A hurried stitch sits differently. The fabric loses its drape. An experienced artisan can tell immediately when something has been worked under pressure — and so can the person who eventually wears it.

Your piece is worked in natural light where possible, in the same home workspaces where this craft has been practised for generations. The hook moves through thread that has been chosen for colour consistency and strength. Each motif is formed individually, checked, and joined to the next.

For a top, this typically takes one to two full working days. For a more intricate piece, longer.

Days 3–4: Quality Check and Finishing

Before anything leaves Narsapuram, it is checked against the original design. Loose ends are secured. Edges are examined. If anything does not meet the standard, it is reworked — not shipped and hoped for the best.

The piece is then packed carefully to protect the structure of the crochet during transit. Open-work fabric needs space. It cannot be compressed into a tight parcel without risking the shape of the stitches.

Days 4–7: On Its Way to You

Once dispatched, your order travels from Andhra Pradesh to wherever you are in India. You will receive tracking details so you can follow it.

When it arrives, you are not receiving something generic. You are receiving something that was made specifically after you decided you wanted it — by a woman in Narsapuram whose skill is the product of years of practice and a tradition that stretches back over 150 years.

Why We Work This Way

Made-to-order means no overproduction. No pieces sitting unsold, eventually discarded. Every item that leaves Narsapuram has already found its person.

It also means what you receive is genuinely fresh. The thread has not been sitting in storage. The piece has not been handled by dozens of people in a fulfilment centre. It was made for your order, packed, and sent.

The wait — typically 5 to 7 days — is not a delay. It is the time it takes to make something properly.
