It begins with the missionaries
Irish nuns who came to coastal Andhra Pradesh taught crochet to local women. Generations passed it on, hook to hook — giving birth to what the world now knows as Narsapuram Lace.
Today
GI-tagged, globally loved
Narsapuram crochet now carries a Geographical Indication tag — India’s official mark of heritage, recognised nationally in December 2025.
